I did an interview for what I thought was a position at Pegasystems. The interview was conducted via Telegram, which I now see as a huge red flag. I did my research on the interviewer first via Linked IN, to make sure everything was legit. After the interview, I was offered the position. I asked for a letter of employment to be emailed. The email was sent to me with the letter of employment, I-9 form, W4 form. I noticed that the email address seemed off. It was "[email protected]". I asked the interviewer to please message me from his Linked In acct to make sure this wasn't a scam...... no response after that. That's when I knew it was a scam. I contacted the hiring manager on Linked In to check if this was a scam, which he indeed confirm it was.

This morning, I received a UPS next day air envelope. Inside was a check for $3850.50 for "work equipment needed for the job", asking me to deposit $ and send back details of how the funds were used , deposit receipt.

Other than the interview on Telegram, the interview questions were legit. Nothing else felt scammy. They were able to get my name, address, phone number, and which Bank I used. Thankfully, I never sent the I-9/W4 forms with my ssn or bank account #.
