We contacted Family Labrador Retrievers Puppies on Facebook market place. We were sent pictures of 2 females, each costing $830. We paid the deposit to hold one until they were to be released 1 week later. The initial cost was to include vaccinations, de-worming, microchipping, a crate and all AKC papers. The next week we were contacted by the breeder and told that we could pick up the dog with the remaining balance being paid, and if we wanted the puppy it would cost an additional $65 (even though we had been told that this was included). We declined chipping and became a little suspicious. I made several attempts to set up an appointment to pick up the dog from the breeder, it is a 3 hr drive from our home to their alleged address in Hollywood. Every time I tried to make an appointment the would make an excuse why it wouldn't work. They then offered to ship the puppy to us for $75. We agree to pay the shipping to the breeder. The breeder took the puppy to the supposed courier (Pacific Courier Group), who immediately contacted me and told me that we would have to pay $450 for a special crate for delivery ($300 refundable deposit, and $150 crate rental fee). We paid the feel for the crate rental, but the dog would not be able to be shipped until the following day. The next morning I received a message from the courier stating that we would have to pay $600 for medical tests to ship the dog from LA county to Riverside county, or the dog would be held in quarantine for 14 days. I asked if I could come pick the puppy up in person from the courier, but they refused and would not provide the address where the puppy is supposedly being housed. I have now made several attempts to contact both the breeder and the courier, and they are no longer answering my messages.
