I got a announcement in my email that "Your computer could be at risk. Get Mcafee now!"

My go-to approach to handling such emails is now to ferret out who the email is from. I do not want to click any links or reply to the email. I have a Mac and the approach to finding the email is not straightforward. I hover my mouse over the right end of the name of the sender until a drop-down appears. I click on "copy address." Then, I go to a text entering document such a Notepad or Word, and click on "Paste." This maneuver reveals the sender's real address, in this case [email protected]. This email clearly did not come from Mcafee, so the next step is reporting the scam.

I read the email closely, look for addresses and/or phone numbers, then google the results. Here is what I found when I googled the address (which was in such small print that a magnifying glass was required to read it):

Scam. Received a survey,UPS, "won" a free gift just pay shipping and handling. Dermaprogenix cream. Then I was charged for the product.

So there you have it. Beware of emails that get your adrenaline going, or seem to be too good to be true. I got a text scam recently, too, and such scams have alarmed my friends as well.
