Our company, **************** ***, is working to trademark our logo through our attorney. I received an invoice for $2,760.00 that "Needed to be paid" to get the trademark completed. The invoice has a very low-quality picture of our logo printed on it. I spoke with our attorney, and they confirmed this is a fake invoice.

By using an invoice that appears to be for services rendered, including misleading language such as "Total Fee" and "Please pay the amount within 10 days," this company buries the fine print that states the payment will be used to file a company's public registration for their trademark. It's a convincing scheme, as I imagine many business blindly pay what appears to be an invoice for requested services when in fact this is an unsolicited cold call for a business practice that is completely useless, given trademarks are managed at the federal level by United States Patent and Trademark Office.

several emails have been sent saying that the company name is going to be trademarked by someone else and that we need to take action before they do, they sent 5 emails in total for 2 months asking us to contact them and start the process with them to avoid loosing the company name

Scammer sent an unsolicited email claiming:

1. Someone else was attempting to file a trademark on my business name

2. That if I did not respond to this email within 24-48 hours and initiate a trademark application with them, they would be forced to help the other, unnamed party file a trademark against my business name. That "a swift response is imperative to facilitate guidance through the registration process."

3. That I would be breach of several laws if the other party succeeded in their trademark application against my business name.
