Faith Basset Hounds Reports & Reviews (1)

I was looking for a Basset Hound puppy. I found a breeder website called Faith Basset Hounds and contacted them via text to inquire about a male puppy. They provided me with additional photos of him and asked me the questions a breeder usually asks an interested party. I felt comfortable with them and paid them for the puppy $750 via Venmo. They said they were based in Texas and would ship the puppy to me, via a shipping agency called United Pet Airline (https://unitedpetairline.com), the next day. I received an email from the breeder (Josehp Jones) the next morning saying the puppy had been transferred to the shipping agency. He attached pictures of the crate and accessories the puppy would arrive with - and informed me that the agency required me to pay an $1800 deposit for a thermal electronic crate to ship the puppy in. I would receive 98% of the deposit back when the crate was returned to the agency (upon delivery of the puppy). I was also contacted via the shipping agency (from the email address [email protected]) stating the same thing. I paid the "deposit" and then received an email stating that there were no direct flights to me so the puppy would be going to another city first. I was told he would arrive there by 6:30 pm. I heard nothing else that night, even though the shipping agency claimed to have a live chat - all my texts, calls, and emails went unanswered. I woke up the next morning to an email from the shipping agency claiming that the puppy needed to be revaccinated because he turned 11 weeks old, and that a "city permit" was required to import the puppy to my city. This required a deposit of $1910 that would be fully refunded upon delivery. I knew that my state did not require an import permit, but I called and spoke to someone at the "agency" and still believed a puppy was sitting in a different city alone, so I paid it. (The person I spoke to had a thick accent and I honestly believed there was a language barrier that was preventing them from fully explaining the situation to me.) They said the puppy would be here by 2 pm that afternoon. I more or less harassed them that day for updates and they reluctantly informed me that the vaccinations had taken all day and the puppy needed to rest before flying, but he would be on the first flight the following morning. I pressed them for a time and they gave me bogus flight information that said he'd be on a 10:45 am flight. At that point, I knew something was up, as the flight they gave me did not exist. I had an out of state friend contact the breeder (who had not replied to any of my communications) and ask if the puppy I had purchased was still available. They told her that the puppy WAS available and sent her the same photos they had sent me, and asked her for $750. I contacted my financial institutions that night to put a stop payment on the charges. The following morning, I had another email stating that I needed to pay a refundable insurance coverage in the amount of $2390. I simply ignored this email. They tried to call me and I ignored that phone call as well and I have not heard anything from either them or the "breeder" since then.
