Facebook Imposter Account Reports & Reviews (1)

Someone hacked the Facebook account of a person in the community. They made a post in the community Facebook group that they had 4 Taylor Swift tickets. Since we knew that the person posting was a trustworthy person we reached out and told her we were interested. The scammer told us to send $1400 to the Venmo account, @jamie-hall-390. They said it was her daughter's, which seemed reasonable. After looking up the account, we became a little suspicious and asked for her to send a Venmo request to my mom. My mom never saw the request, and I assumed she missed it (we were excited), so I told my mom that I would send the money. In the meantime, the scammer told us that we could pay $1000 now then the additional $400 once the tickets had been transferred to us. Again, seemed reasonable. The minute I sent the $1000 my mom mentioned that maybe it was a scam. Instantly, all the red flags fell into place and I knew she was right. And indeed, she was right. I had no clue that someone could hack a Facebook account and instant message from that account. Anyway, we lost $1000. The Venmo account is probably the best way to find the scammer (if you're in the business of doing that). I have reached out to Venmo to inform them of the fraudulent account. The scammer's last four digits of their phone number is 6850.
