I received a FaceBook Friend Request from an old friend. She then asked me if I knew about a Government program that gives away $250,000 to elderly people who need help. She gave me the name Julia Pierson as the person to contact. It sounded to good to be true, so I asked her for the last name of someone we knew at church, figuring a scammer would not know. To my surprise, she came up with the last name. I still wasn't convinced, so I searched for Julia Pierson on-line and found the name associated with similar scams. I didn't pursue it any further.

The scammer made themselves out to be Someone from My Facebook friends but was I person that I just have a mutual friend with that I'm not close to. They messaged me three times within a two week period The first time they asked for $50 said they would get paid the next day and pay me back I didn't go for it the second time I asked about a mutual friend they didn't have anything to say, The third time which was today they wanted my cash app name and made it look as if they were sending me money through cash app and it was waiting for me to accept it and wanted me to send screenshots of certain Cash app screens one being the bitcoin screen and said I would have to add $23 to be able to activate the cash app money they were sending. I called them out on it being a scam they tried to assure me that it wasn't but this person and i do not talk to each other and when we have talked they do not call me Mama as this person did or speak in a way that this person was speaking. They sent me a video of the person they claimed to be holding a driver's license and I looked it up on Google and found out that it was a scam and it described almost the exact same thing this person was doing to me, and it said to report it here. When I sent them a screenshot of the article I read on Google stating how the scam works and then sent them one of me here on the better business bureau site reporting it they instantly blocked me so that I couldn't send any more messages to them. They didn't get any info or money from me but they did try to scam me.

I got a friend request on FB from an old friend. he told me he had gotten money and I was on a winners list. He said I could win money and just to call him. I called and I gave them my mom's maiden name, phone number, address - then asked me to give them $500 to get $100,000. He said he would have to verify if I was telling the truth, then came back about 5 minutes later. I asked him if he had paid the $500, and he said yes he had and he is very happy for me. I kept saying "call me", turns out he doesn't have a FB profile, and owns a flip phone. I'm on disability, making just $700 a month, if I had paid it there wouldn't have been any way for me to make it up.
