Facebook Dog Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

The scammer has an online Facebook group for those interested in Shih Tzus. He claims that he rehomes these dogs for those who can no longer take care of their pets. I was required to pay through Zelle but paid through Venmo because I don’t have Zelle. I was assured the dog had vaccination paperwork, and that would be delivered to my door through a transport service. Was not told of any additional fees. When I reached out to the seller on Thursday, July 7 to proceed with booking the transport, I had to execute my signature against a an illegible transfer of ownership document. I pointed out to the seller that this document felt illegitimate, but he encouraged me to sign. The transport company is a separate business that I will be filing against as well whereby they required an insurance fee that was fully refundable upon delivery of the dog. They then proceeded to call me in the middle of the night during transport to tell me that the dog had been stopped at a checkpoint in Pennsylvania and that I needed to pay $2500 in livestock fees. This is when I became overly suspicious and refused to pay the fee. I argued over text for 2 hours and called animal control in York PA.
