I bought a product from a retail store with a lifetime warranty for $15. The product stopped working the next day with normal use, no damage or unusual wear and tear. I contacted the manufacture to claim the warranty and they said I had to pay $22.50 for shipping me a replacement. I could go back to my local store and buy a new one for cheaper than claiming the warranty, making the warranty basically useless. The warranty attracted me to this product instead of its competitors, but clearly gave me a false sense of security.
