I replied to a secret shopper position that was e-mailed from Linked in. A few days later I received an e-mail that I would be getting a package in the mail. I received the package and inside was a letter with directions on what to do and a check for $2,450. I was only expecting to make a few bucks for each review of my experience so this had me worried about what was going on. The letter tells you to text them when check is received so I did and got a text back late at night. Midnight my time, saying to deposit the check and then let them know via text. At this point I did some research of my own and found the address this package was sent to me from shows on Zillow as a pending sale the day before the date on the check. There are a lot of fishy things going on here to just ignore.

cashiers check and instruction letter received via priority mail. check on georgiaunited credit union for $2450.00

This is a secret shopper scam. They send you a Secret Shopper assignment via mail that has a check for a large sum of money ($2450) for a "WalMart Store Secret Shop". They want you to start a text exchange once you have deposited the check, at which time they give you "the information on what to do next" which I assume would be to buy gift cards and give them the info, and then down the line the check will bounce. The website and information is professional looking, although the steps to the "secret shop" are very sketchy, as they say you will be informed of each step along the way via text.
