My mother received a phone call that said the name "DISH" on her phone screen so she answered the phone. We recently had a bit of trouble with her Dish TV network. The caller said that they were upgrading Dish in their area to realign it with the satellite and since it was being done right now. Stated she knew my mother was a long-time Dish customer. The caller new my mother's Dish account number and wanted her to do a variety of things with her box - recite a number that came up back to her, etc. The caller then wanted to verify it was her so they needed my Mother's last 4 digits of her social security number to reconfirm her account. The caller indicated she would be receiving a $20 credit on her bill for doing all of this. Then she said my mother would need to pay $180 and asked for her banking information. Luckily my mother did not give her that information. They did ask for the check to be sent to Exponet Solutions at a PO Box number in Brooklyn, NY. By this time my mother got suspicious and hung up.
