Scammed on Asphalt - Do Not be Fooled

Expert Paving LLC and David Wells (his name given at the time). Came to the driveway when I was leaving the house and said they could do asphalt for a cheap price. Also extremely pushy sales tactics and sob story such as he was getting a divorce and could not see his children. Yes the knock came on the door that the price went up to complete the entire driveway. Said if there was any issue there would be a one year warranty (no written contract should have been first red flag). After only a few days, rock and other that was laid down was clearly not asphalt but some odd conglomerate and now with only four months the entire job is disintegrated and a huge waste of $5,000. Do yourself a favor and never go down this rabbit hole and go with a reputable asphalt company. Mailbox on phone is always full and emailed with no results to get them back to our driveway to make it right.

The scammer was very insistent. He said he had a load of asphalt he needed to get rid of immediately and saw our house. After my husband's several attempts to tell him no he did proceed to tell us he needed the money because his two kids were in the hospital. Could be true and sad but his pushy tactics were too much I did confront him and let him know I did not appreciate his sales tactic which also involved telling my husband his wife wanted it when I said no such thing nor did I hint that. I said I would rather him be ?? nest then use sales tactics like that because that makes me feel manipulated. When my husband got to our house from work, he was told it was recycled concrete which was still a different product then what he was told. The mix had way too much dirt to be recycled concrete and looked more like a road base or dirt with little concrete. After my husband let them know he is a contractor and that he knows this is not the right stuff, they apologized. They did not charge us, they cleaned it up and left immediately. If my husband was not a contractor and aware of how recycled concrete lookes and that the recycled concrete plants do not allow that much dirt in their material, we would have been fooled. I don't want other people being tricked.
