Scammer had an ad and application on LinkedIn for "Virtual Assistant" as a remote job for EXIT Real Estate Professionals, of Spokane, WA. Scammer contacted my son via email. Later sent letter offering employment. Sent emails and texts from a Todd Hays, Lisa Garvey and Tracey Carr, offering a link through SKYPE to communicate. Sent an email with a "check" for him to print, deposit and send confirmation of deposit with copy of check front and back (after deposit). Check was to buy equipment. Being suspicious, he went on the true website and contacted Todd Hayes, a broker whose name and email had been used. Mr. Hayes confirmed that it was not him and that they were not hiring a "Virtual Assistant" and that he had been contacted by others in the past 3-4 days with similar illegitimate employment contacts on LinkedIn.
