I filed a fraud dispute because the company charged my credit card more than the purchase amount. I attempted to contact the company beforehand but was unsuccessful.

My credit card company refunded me the full purchase price.

I then received a TEXT message from someone claiming to work for EveryText that I owed the outstanding purchase amount for the textbook rental. The text also claimed that they were charged $30.00 for the fraud investigation and would be adding that to my account. I was told to pay the full amount plus the $30.00 charge by the end of day or it would roll to collections for $480.00.

I responded that I wanted to return the rental immediately and for all correspondence to be via email on file with my account. I never received an email.

I’ve also confirmed with my credit card company that EveryText has not responded to their investigation at all and has not been charged a $30.00 fee.
