An associate on LinkedIn sent me a private message with a job opportunity mid October, which I followed and completed information for. This was someone who knew that I was between jobs and needed income. The next day I received notice from my associate that her account had been hacked. Now, a little over a month later I have received a package (from an address in Puerto Rico) with instructions for purchasing google play cards, and a check for $2,900.42 (the bottom of the document says 'Regards, Mark Jones and says to email the completed report to info.evaluationresults.org, the check is from Connex Credit Union, payable through BOKF, NA Eufaula, OK, and there is a legible signature from Frank Mancini above the Chief Executive Officer line). The instructions state to deposit the check, keep $400 for payment and purchase google play cards of various denominations (removing the scratch offer area and capturing images of both the front and back of the cards). I then received a text message from someone going by the name Clack Ford, who claimed to be the Director of Human Resources and STAFFING of the GBw Survey Team. This text message stated that the package had been delivered and asked for confirmation when the assignment was complete. I went through my LinkedIn account and all evidence of the email was gone from my message log.
