I am submitting this formal complaint regarding Etsy, Inc. for engaging in misleading and exploitative practices affecting new sellers.

I opened a shop on Etsy, made a sale, fulfilled the order, and the item was delivered to the buyer. However, Etsy continues to withhold my payment, claiming that the funds were used to "cover fees." They provide no transparent breakdown of these deductions or when I can expect any payout. This has left me with zero earnings despite fulfilling my obligations.

In addition, I paid Etsy to promote my products using their internal advertising system. After weeks of running paid ads with no visibility or return, it became clear that the service was ineffective and possibly fraudulent. Etsy offers no meaningful reporting or accountability regarding where the ad budget goes or what it achieves.

Another critical issue is the lack of upfront disclosure regarding double taxation for EU orders when using Printful as a production partner. Etsy does not inform sellers that both platforms may apply VAT or digital service taxes, leading to unexpected duplicate tax charges, often deducted from the seller’s payout without explanation. I only realized this after analyzing several confusing statements and discovering large, unreported deductions.

To summarize:

Etsy withheld my rightful payment after fulfilling a real sale.

They provided no direct customer support — only automated responses via chatbot.

Their ad system lacks transparency and failed to deliver any results.

They never disclose the risk of double taxation when integrating with third-party providers like Printful.

As a result, I lost both time and money on their platform and was left completely unsupported.

I respectfully request that this be investigated. Etsy’s practices are deeply unfair, especially toward new small sellers, and potentially deceptive.

I purchased a tumbler from a store on Etsy that was a design from a book series I had just read. When I got the tumbler in the mail the design looked exactly like the picture. However, the Stanley logo was imprinted on the cup. The cup was a cheap version of a 40oz Stanley cup. The handle was loose and the lid was cracked slightly. I wrote a review on the shop page regarding my experience and it opened up a conversation with the owner asking me to change my review. A few days later, I was washing the cup by hand and the print started coming off. I immediately emailed them asking for a refund. They wrote back basically blackmailing me saying if I change my review or edit it, they would give me a partial refund. The back and forth continued until they agreed to refund me but I never received the refund.

This scammer is operating on Etsy and will not take down their store despite numerous reports to Etsy to remove it because the seller has committed fraud and taken money from numerous customers. The store is still operating on Etsy now and taking money, actively.

I would like to report a scam involving "autographed" cards I purchased on Etsy. After verification, it turned out that the certificate of authenticity provided with the cards is fake. I have tried contacting Etsy multiple times for assistance, but they have done nothing to help their customers or resolve this issue. I have been scammed by a dishonest seller on their platform, and I want to warn other buyers.

This designer has several shops including a shop on Etsy Texas branch called Polly Courture Boutique Texas location. They also seem to be connected with Bridal Polina Shop NL, Canada. Also connected to 2 other shops, Lucky Dress Atelier and Atelier Lucky Dress.

I ordered a $3,788.75 dress from her and kept extending the deadline for her. t

The final deadline was set for July 17th (wedding date 8/17). Conversations continued until July 16th when I was informed that my dress was "stolen" on July 1st. Polly has promised to give me a full refund, but as of October 10th, nothing!

I feel scammed! I have filed a claim with Etsy and my bank.

Sept 16 2024 I ordered Fidgit blanket from Etsy website. It was supposed to be delivered sometime between September 30 to October 2, 2024. When I did not received Fidget blanket, I contacted seller Justyna via Etsy. October 5,6,7, 2024 Seller said my order was stuck in "customs" in London/England. October 7 2024 another person from Etsy E-mailed me that my order was stuck in customs in the Ukraine ! I E-mailed Seller to cancel my order and refund my money. Seller E-mailed me back and said she would not refund my money. THIS IS A SCAM. MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED $86 AND I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED WHAT I ORDERED.

I ordered a $1100.00 prosthetic from this company. In August 30, 2023, I’ve contacted them 15 plus times requesting a status or an update. The company’s response has and continues to be that the device will be mail the following week. However, the device still has not been mailed. I last contacted the vendor to July 11, 2024 and have not received a response. Simply PUT DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! They are CROOKS and and are extorting people in the LGBTQIA+ community! Again, I urge any and all new customers to avoid this company like the plague. Issue: Paid $1100 for a prosthetic on August 30, 2023 Still HAVE NOT RECEIVED PRODUCT

The seller prepares a label to make people think the order is going to ship and then it never ships. Etsy customer service then refunds you when you complain but also never takes the money back from the seller. They get to screw people over and keep their money. There are MULTIPLE reviews of people who experienced the same issue.

In 2019, I bought a ring on etsy. The scammer assured that the ring was genuine diamond and spinel. I had an appraisal done and the ring has counterfeit stones. The scammer (ONERS) refused to give me back my money and accept the return. Etsy and the credit card company did not help me because it was beyond the timeframe.

I placed an order with this shop "HandmadedollsZA" on Etsy. Immediately after my purchase I was messaged saying that they "Cannot complete my order" and I was immediately sent a link that took me to a second Etsy shop titled "TopperFigure". This new page has 0 reviews and offers the same product at a different price. I asked for a refund on my original purchase and was told "refunds will have to wait" and to "please complete the purchase again" at the new storefront. Seeing as this is most likely a scam I reported the page to Etsy and now with you all. I told the seller that I was not going to purchase the same product again and that if they will not send me the product I ordered I would like a refund. I have not heard back from that store front since. Please see the attached files of our conversation. Both this storefronts on Etsy should be investigated and shut down.
