- Willis, MI, USA

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, I was in a Zoom meeting at about 1 pm when I noticed that there was a second cursor floating around my desktop. The next thing I saw was my bank app, my husband's bank app, and other things being opened up. Then a blue screen appeared which in part said ! ! SSL STOPPED WORKING ! Under some verbiage, it said For Technical help Call on +1(309)-250-6622 with a message not to shut down your computer. That is what I did though hoping it would go away. It didn’t and I had no control over my computer at this point. Two calls from Puyallup, WA rang to my cell phone. I answered the second one and told him I had my own tech company and was going to call them and hung up on him. I then called the tech company I had enlisted 2 years ago called Wisdom Web Online LLC. Their tech number is 1-855-580-0700. I called that number and the person on the line with a very thick East Indian accent told me not to worry they would fix everything. He (told me his name was Sam Walker) then took over my computer and it looked like things were getting taken care of. As he was explaining what he needed to do to fix it he said that they had gotten into my computer through an app called Supremo (which should have been my first red flag as it came with my computer). He said they would completely remove that and anything else “they” had put into my computer. Then he started talking about money. He said I would need a new IP address. I thought that sounded reasonable but then told me the price would be $1,377.99 (with tax). I was floored. I told him that 2 years ago I got their lifetime tech services which cost me $500.00 at the time. He assured me that I needed a new IP address and that’s what it would cost. I fell for it. I wrote out the check, he scanned it, and then he told me to overnight to an apartment in Columbus, OH (should’ve been my second red flag). This I did but when I informed my husband what had happened, he said I had been scammed. I denied it because I called the “original tech company”. That night I went into the ScamPulse.com website and they didn’t exist. I Googled the name and they didn’t exist. I put a stop payment on the check. The next day I got a call from Microsoft support which didn’t make me suspicious until the man said his name was Sam Walker. At this point, I’m not sure if the two companies are one and the same or somehow the scammer watched me dial the 855 number and posed as the old company.

The EXACT same thing happened to me today, and the guy's name was Sam Walker, and had an Indian accent! I have the checks ready to go, but decided not to mail them. Thank you to the person who posted above. You saved me $4000!
