Scammer offers to mail a smaller object to you if you send the money to them via Facebook Messenger. Unfortunately, and for no apparent reason, Facebook created the most unsafe method of payment currently on the web. When you send money via Messenger, even though it's going via your PayPal, it goes directly into their bank account and is GONE. Facebook outright tells you that you cannot get your money back. And you can actually straight up block someone who has sent you money. Then they block you completely and delete the ads. Facebook has NO recourse for this. There is NO way to report them as a scammer, NO way to get your money back. Not even PayPal can help you. Facebook has created a scam-topia if you will, where scammers have all the power and have actual protection from Facebook from the lack of attention to the issue.
