They called, said I qualified for "student loan forgiveness", stating that I could lower my payments and the amount owed. I had to pay a fee up front, then they take money out monthly from my account. I thought my loan was being taken care of, until I started receiving email that my student loan was way behind and considered "delinquent". I called Equitable, and they said I cannot cancel, and if I tried to stop payments, they would trash my credit and garnish me. They then transferred me to someone that wanted my login information for my Fed Loan. They said they couldn't give me any info on my status or help me until I gave them my login. I told them to screw off, and I'd be reporting them. Closing my bank account and will get another one elsewhere since I can't do a stop payment without being charged $25 a month for that.
