A "young mother" described that she worked for Entrepreneurs Sales out of Michigan City, IN, that is supporting her set her financial and business goals in realizing her dream of starting her own bakery. Her fiancé and father of her 4 year old twin sons died tragically and their dream was to open a restaurant together. She was selling books and magazine subscriptions at a substantial mark up to get the specific amount to help meet her goal that her coach set for her from the organization. She went on to say that our neighborhood was very supportive and generous but only one person so far that day called her the "N" word. We both agreed that sometimes you can't change the thoughts and ways of an old man. I went through her soaked and ragged binder and just simply chose a book, the Story of Rosa Parks, cost of book was $40 and process & handling $15 - total $55. I should have received it in 2 weeks. She said she would be back over the weekend and deliver handmade baked goodies for everyone that bought something from her - that she always did that. I wrote a check to Entrepreneurs Sales and got a receipt, the receipt even says 205 Belden Street; Michigan City, IN 46360 and has the website entrepreneurssales.com
Clever and convincing. Check cashed on June 25th through TCF Bank with the "business name" and the website has her name "*** *" and several other names, as well.
Do some more digging and I would assume that's how they got a bank account opened - by setting all of this up, having receipts, a sales "catalog", website, etc. but it's all a scam - and considering that they now have my check - routing number & account number - I'm VERY uncomfortable. With that many people "working" the scam - in so many affluent neighborhoods in the neighboring states and getting some amount of money from almost every family - it doesn't seem worthwhile to follow up!
