I was contacted via telephone by a representative of "Advanced Premier Consulting Services Inc." named "Chantel" about a Front Desk position for which I had submitted an application on the Indeed job site. She informed me that if I were still interested in the position, I would need to go for an in-person interview at their offices, to which I agreed. "Chantel" then asked if I had an OSHA license, to which I replied no. She told me that "it wasn't a problem because they could sign me up for the required training," all I had to do was bring $150 USD with me to the interview and that I would only pay if I were selected as a candidate. This seemed odd to me, but I didn't think much of it as I've never gone through a job placement company before.

So I went down to their offices located on the 6th floor at 39 West 29th Street in Manhattan, and everything seemed above board at first glance. I signed in with a receptionist who told me to take a seat in an adjacent waiting room, and there were about six other people there, seemingly waiting to interview as well. They called them in one by one until, after about 45 minutes or so, it was my turn. The man conducting the interviews identified himself as "Blake," he asked me for my resume, which I offered, and then went on to ask me about my availability and list off some of the positions they staff around the city along with some basic requirements of each. I let him know I was coming in for the Front Desk position, as per my application. Blake confirmed he understood and then went into a rapid-fire listing off of the various training courses they offered and that I would need to pass before they could place me with a prospective employer. As it turns out, the $150 I was asked to bring was only a "registration fee." I would either need to pay an additional $348 USD for a "basic safety course" or upwards of $600 for an "advanced in-person course, " potentially resulting in higher pay if and when I was placed with an employer.

"Chantel" never mentioned any of this when scheduling my interview. She made it sound like the $150 was all I needed for the required certification courses. Despite my better judgment and the alarms ringing in the back of my mind, I agreed to pay Blake the $150 I had brought with me to "secure my spot." Also, I agreed to pay the additional $348 in a week's time for the online "basic course," which Blake said he would send me a link to after the payment was finalized. With that, the "interview" wrapped up, and I left the offices of "Advanced Premier Consulting Services Inc.," not fully understanding why I had just paid $150 for a less-than-ten-minute interview that guaranteed me nothing until I returned a week later with another $348, which still wouldn't guarantee me a job.

Once I got home, I did some Google searching (something I kick myself for not doing beforehand) on APC Services Inc/APC Services NY and could find no reviews. Nothing. They only have a bare-bones website with a few stock JPEGS and paragraphs of marketing jumbo. I tried calling the contact number, and it went straight to a basic voicemail with no prompts or other options. Haven't tried their fax because, well, who uses fax anymore? All in all, I feel like this is a scam, if a brazen one at that, given that they have an actual brick-and-mortar location. The contract they have you sign to use their "services" basically makes it so you can't go after them, and they get to keep your money no matter what. This is nothing more than a predatory racket that takes advantage of ordinary people who are just looking for work to support themselves and their loved ones. Needless to say, I won't be giving these people another cent. I already gave them enough for a week's worth of groceries in exchange for nothing. I'm still young, so I'll be fine, but I'd hate to see someone more vulnerable fall victim to this.

I sincerely hope someone with authority looks into this "company" and holds them accountable.

I was offered a front desk position and was told I needed to pay $150 for OSHA and CPR training before starting. However, when I arrived, the person in charge “NERO” suddenly claimed I needed to pay $949 for multiple training courses to work in commercial buildings in NYC. This was never mentioned before, and it felt like a classic bait-and-switch scam.

Legitimate employers do not require upfront payments for training—especially not at such high costs. This is a red flag for job seekers looking for real opportunities. If you’re considering this job, stay away! They’re preying on people who need work and using deceptive tactics to get money. I hope this review helps others avoid falling for this scam.

I was contacted by 718-522-7301 about a receptionist job offer. They told me its a Union job, it has 401K with benefits, all the good stuff that jobs offer. They said I had to bring an updated resume and $150 in cash or money order. I questioned it because why would I need to bring cash to an interview right? They said it was for mandatory training and if they did not accept me, I do not pay. I was skeptical but I still made an interview because I need a job. They said when I arrive to ask for Mr. Lamar. So the night before, I looked up the address the night before (39 W 29 street floor 6) and it led to directions to a spa. So I came the next day thinking I was being interveiwed for a front desk position at a spa called NYC Oasis. I walk in and instantly did not like the vibes it did not seem right (and also it did not lead to a spa) but I stupidly chalked it up to interview nerves. The front desk people also weren't that friendly but that's not the point. So I met with Mr Lamar, he introduced himself and started asking about me to get to know my personality. He liked my personality and gave me a contract to sign. I signed it and then gave him the $150 in cash for training. He then stated that I needed to to pay $500 more to start immediately after. I tried to ask why and also ask more about what the job was for, how I get trained, what I needed to do (all while talking about my personality). None of my questions were answered. He said I could pay the rest in card but I told him I did not have the money. He said when I have it to call him at 516-886-2787 so I can pay and then start right away or the next day. I left with the contract I signed in hand both confused and excited for the job I (thought I) received. I come home to actually really look up what I signed and realized I was super scammed. The company name (Advanced Premier Consulting Services Inc) had reddit pages saying it was a scam and it wouldn't even lead to a real job, the 516 phone number led to a bunch of reddit pages and reports of scam and the email address in the heading is a gmail account and business usually have their own email domains. I write this because I want to warn everyone else about this and also to say if you have a bad gut feeling about something, listen to it and don't be like me and take the opportunity based off desperation. I blocked all numbers and I am trying to figure out what to do with the contract.

I got a call on Wednesday 01/29/25 from someone called Lamar from APC Services saying that he was contacting me regarding a front desk job that paid $25/hr. He described the role by saying I would be working in the lobby of the building greeting guests, checking IDs and checking them in. He also said I needed to have a CPR license and asked if I had one. I told him I did not and he said that that wasn't a problem as the company would help me get set up with one and I needed to bring $150 in either cash or as a money order to pay for the CPR training in case I got hired after the job interview. I also was asked to bring my ID and resume. He said to call (347) 947-8181 if I had any questions or had trouble finding the location. I did end up calling that number as I did not catch the name of the company. When I called and asked, they told me APC Services. I went to the job interview on Friday 01/31/2025 located at 39 West 29th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY and met with a man called Santino Nero. At the building, the company name listed in the directory is Manhattan House Management, Inc. and not APC Services. he told me that on top of the CPR certification I also needed to get all of these other licenses like Fire Safety and he named various others and that the total cost would be $495. $150 would be the deposit and I had to bring him $345. The training would all be virtual, but I'd have to come in person to do the CPR training. Mr. Nero had me fill out a contractual agreement from APC (Advanced Premier Consulting Services Inc) that both he and I signed stating that I was paying for training which was non-refundable and that there was no guarantee of employment as it was my responsibility to pass any pre-screenings and complete the training. He mentioned I’d need to get a background check and drug test. He asked for my resume and my ID. I brought my NY State ID. He just wrote my home address and DOB on the contractual agreement. I didn't see him make a copy of anything unless he took a picture with his cell phone, but I did not notice that. He gave the same form we filled out right back to me which I thought was odd. We then discussed my work experience and shortly after he told me I had been hired and would get this process started, so I paid him the $150. He asked when I would have the remaining balance of $345 and I told him sometime next week. He told me to call or text him at (516) 886-2878 when I was ready to pay the rest. I then left the office and shortly after realized I had been scammed as I found out that a company will pay for any certifications or licenses. You don't pay for this out of pocket and some of the certifications that were mentioned are free or cost much less

They called from the 718-522-7301 and left a voice message "If you are still interested in the customer service position please give a call back." I gave a call back and it was a women of an intl accent describing a receptionist job greeting customers, answering phones for a corporation located on the 6th floor paying $25 an hour and I would have 3 work shifts to choose from. Its a Union job, 401K with benefits. Training is required and the cost of the training is $150 in cash or money order. The training you will have to pay for because once you complete the training you can use it for personal reasons if you choose. You can come in for an interview tomorrow at 12:45, 1:30... We will send you a text confirmation"

I got a call on Thursday 1/23/2025 at 12:03 pm from (347) 609-0145 from someone called Mr. Kay from Vigilante Solutions saying that he was contacting me regarding a front desk job that paid $25/hr. He described the role by saying I would be working in the lobby of the building greeting guests, checking IDs and checking them in. Also mentioned something about working with hotels, residential, and commercial buildings.

He described this being a prestigious company that works with other prestigois companies, therefore there are extensive trainings that needed to be done. He said the company doesn’t pay for these trainings however, so I would need to come to my interview prepared with $150 in either cash or as a money order in case I got hired after the job interview. I also was asked to bring my ID and resume and sent me a text to confirm my interview time (which was the next day at 12:45pm). At one point I did ask which location they were looking to hire at and he had no straight answer, just saying they have multiple locations in the city and Brooklyn. The job interview was located 39 West 29th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY.

After discussing The opportunity with friends and family I was informed that this was a possible scam because there was no information on the business at the Better Business Bureau, nor I was their information on their website and there was no identifiable information from the employer. I was also Informed that companies typically pay for certifications for you so $150 was ridiculous. After thinking back on my phone interview, there were many strange comments made regarding why I had free time the high school in which I went to and how excited the employer was to “put a face behind the name.” I decided not to attend the interview and sent a lengthy message to the employer about my discomfort. I never received a call back or a response to my message.

I received a phone call about 6:00 pm from a David that said I have a job interview on January 28 2025 at 11:20 am. That I was to bring 150.00 for OSHA certification if I didn’t have one. Also bring state ID. I knew something wasn’t right about bringing cash to a job interview. I checked them out.

They pose as IT talent recruiters. They find your resume on job boards and contact you to interview you for a corporate company. In my case it was a position for HP. They send what looks like a legitimate job requirements/duites/and salary format document. They ask all the same questions as legitimate IT talent recruiters. After that they tell you everything is great but you need a scrum certification. A scrum certification class is 16 hours with an exam so I said no problem and signed up for a scrum class and sent an enrollment screenshot shot. I was immediately called by them stating that the training academy I chose would not be accepted by HP. They then sent me 2 links of accepted scrum training classes. I work in IT and was suspicious. If you clink on the link it looks like a legitimate website https://www.cprime.com/learning/courses/psm-certification-training-course/

However if you remove everything adter the .com you'll see that companies real website. The same was with https://upgradeskill.us/course/scrum-master-certified/

They are trying to get you to buy scrum certifications from their scam websites. I called Hewlett-Packard and they said that job opening was fake. DO not believe "Jay Gomez" phone number +16282080511. Or his email [email protected]

If they could be shut down so this does not happen to any young people again it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

My sister recived a call from +1 (610) 273-8574 at 12:51 PM today, 2023.05.05, from a woman named Karen. It was supposedly for a front desk position interview. They said it was a Union job and if hired she would need $150 on the spot for OSHA and CPR training. Then a meeting was scheduled for tomorrow at 3 PM at 53 East 34th Street on the 4th floor. She was told if she had trouble finding the place to call this number: +1 (347) 480-0529. We called this number and it went straight to voicemail. The name of the guy is Tony. She was excited, we all were, but then we looked up both numbers and found countless testimonies online about how others got a similar call, just with slight detail changes. Sadly, many of them wound up getting scammed out of money, but hopefully we can help avoid anyone else going through what my sister narrowly avoided.
