Contacted me via email and text stating they found my resume on Indeed. Went through an "interview," "skills assessment," and was offered a remote job. I was told I would be paid $30 per hour, $60 per hour overtime. I was emailed an employment letter that I was asked to sign and email back immediately. I asked them for their federal EIN number to ensure they were a legit employer, the number was valid with the IRS. I was told I would start training in El Paso, TX at $20 per hour for two weeks. I began to find it fishy when they said they would be sending me a voucher to purchase my computer and other work from home supplies. The "check" arrived via FedEx the next day (Saturday), they called me on the phone asking if I had received it and wanted me to deposit it immediately. I finally found a branch that was open and I asked the bank to verify the issuing bank and routing number. As I suspected it was a fake. When I called the recruiter back and told him what happened I was immediately hung up on and the email address and phone that I had been communicating with him were suddenly disconnected and email undeliverable.
