I just digged in a little bit and googled found out that it's a scam. Thank God that I didn't provide any personal information like id proof and all.

Fake Home Hardware Job Listing

The owner of this cell number is at it again. They are impersonating Home Hardware. I received an SMS from this number directing me to a fake home hardware job listing, where I answered some screening questions online. The domain name of the listing was not that of Home Hardware, but one they tried to match. I then received an offer of employment and an employee handbook the next day, from another misleading domain. They asked for government ID, proof of address, and cheque payment information. They told me there would be training and a home setup would be installed for me. My suspicions were aroused when I visited the actual Home Hardware's official career site, and realized the one I had visited was fake. It was a slightly different internet domain name, and the job listing I had interviewed for did not even exist. I looked up the cellphone number and, sure enough, I found a complaint for an identical scam performed under a different company name. Be careful during your search, people's desperation is being taken advantage of.

The scammer sent me a text claiming that I was invited to complete an online interview process for a remote job I had applied for at another company. This was about a month or so after I had sent any applications, so I didn't recall if I replied to them or not. Indeed didn't have it in my history of applications, and Cooke didn't show up in any of my emails for remote office work positions. I fill out the shoddy wordpress interview form, and get an email a couple of days later saying I was hired and asking for "* Clear Front and back picture/scan of your government issued I.D card *Proof of address document (Any utility bill, recent pay slip , bank statement, etc) *Cheque Payment Information - Direct Deposit Form or Void Cheque (For Payroll Analysis)". There were a few typos, but the whole email looked relatively professional, with a contract and employee guide book. The fishiest thing to me at the time was just that I couldn't find an address that I would supposedly need to go to for in person training. Thankfully a family member told me this was sketchy, so I did a little bit more digging, googled the name of the supposed coordinator, and his indeed description literally said that he does not handle this, and that scammers were using his name to get people's information. Thank God for him, or I might have fallen for it.

I am pleased to inform you that after reviewing and processing of all conducted interviews, the management sees you fit to occupy the position of a " Remote Data Entry Operator" and you will be required to work from a remote / home office which will be set up for you by the management of Cooke Inc. you have accepted and signed your contract of employment document.

So therefore, kindly find attached PDF documents, containing your contract of employment.

Kindly note that It's important to take the time to carefully evaluate the offer, so you are making an informed and educated decision to accept the offer.

You are required to review, sign and return back compulsorily with
