I received a called around 7pm Saturday at my family's restaurant. It was supposedly Empire Electric utility company stating that we owed them $834.88 for a past due account and if I didn't pay within 30min someone was going to shut us off. I told her something was not right and seemed weird because I was up to date with everything and I even had my receipt that I paid on the website with a confirmation number. She kept saying in there

"data base" I still have a bill past due and demanded money immediately that had to be CASH only at the Casey's gas station up the street, already a red flag. Since we are a business and can't afford to lose our utilities i feel as though thats what the scammers target. I played along and got her phone number. I felt suspicious about the call so I looked up the account bill online and she was wrong. They are not taking my family's hard earning money! I didn't get scammed but I did get a nasty harass call. I want to get the word out there to others so they don't get victimized by these crooks.
