I was on ****** looking for some part time roles to boost my resume. I got contacted about a role and was told to email someone. So I did. He told me the name of the company and I looked them up and that was all good I had a interview that day on ****** ******** (strange bc I didn’t talk to them in person but I had 30 minutes to answer interview questions and I wouldn’t say they asked anything strange but was weird I didn’t talk to them) I wake up the next morning I was told I got the job and he told me what my duties would be. Since I was just freelancing and I’ve never done It before so I didn’t know if they needed to go through the same HR process.

Anyway, I was told I’m gonna get new computer, printer etc. they said they were gonna send me a check. I thought this was going to be mailed so I could deposit then pick out what I’d need. They asked if I had the ability to deposit a check virtually and I said yes and they asked how much I could deposit. They sent me a check through email I deposited it virtually and they asked me to send the amount through ***** *** “ because the the vendor they work with wanted to get paid that way” and unfortunately to my own ignorance, I wasn’t aware of the hold they put on checks until they clear. My back “deposits” the money even though it’s technically not there yet. So I sent the money.

They then asked for more money and I got another check because their payment wouldn’t cover all the costs. I received a call from my bank to remind me that the funds aren’t really there until the check clears and it can take 7 days. I deposited the second check but got smart and did not send the next amount of money.

I started to catch on after that call and they sent the amount that is almost the full amount for my daily limit.

But I’m out $1950 and truly it’s my own fault I can’t believe I did not see the red flags. I was just excited to get a new part time role and build my resume. I’m usually good about seeing through a scam and can’t believe I went along I with all of this.

I’ve arched a picture of the initial email but I have many more I’d be happy to share.

Also, I’d like to note that I was originally going to send the funds on cash app but since I didn’t not have my account set up cash app refunded me the money Incase of fraud. The cash app name they wanted me to send it to was $Shaniitee
