I was contacted via text message about a job opportunity. I was informed that i needed to download Microsoft Teams in order to speak with the hiring manager named Emily Robert. I was informed that I would receive a job offer and all i had to do was sign a "Job Offer" form. Everything was very professional, just small, minor red flags would pop up every here and there, but they were very convincing. Once I was congratulated for being hired I received an email containing an electronic check that I was to deposit in my bank in order to purchase a new laptop and other equipment that i would need to do the job. When I had trouble depositing the check they began to tell me that they would send me a paper check after they verified my identity. This process was when the red flags really flew and so I cut all contact and blocked the number and user.
