I was offered a job as a remote Data Entry Clerk for Ember Therapeutics. They claimed they would pay for office equipment and internet. Their accounting dept e-mailed an electronic check to me that I was instructed to endorse, send an image of the endorsed check to the HR rep and deposit the check on my bank's mobile app. I immediately informed the HR rep that I was uncomfortable about this process. The HR rep advised me not to do anything with the check and she would escalate this with their accounting dept for an alternate solution for the purchase of the office equipment. I followed up once more with the HR rep for an update and received no response.
