Numerous times our business has received emails from what seems to be individuals inquiring about our services. We do tree trimming & removal. They always ask if the person receiving the email is the owner or manager. And if we give free estimates. Do we do tree removal. Trimming or transplant trees. Does our business except credit cards? I replied with the answers to their questions. I asked that they send us their phone # & the service address. And that to get them an estimate that we could meet them at the property & work them up a quote. They would send the address but not the phone number. And would come up with a reason they couldn't talk on the phone. They were in the hospital, deaf or at work and could only correspond via email. Eventually they would get around to saying that they were buying the home & hadn't fully paid for it so could I run the credit card for more than the estimate & send it to the owner. They weren't able to send credit card but could take my check. Or another contractor that could accept credit cards would be there that day we did they work & could be pay the other contractor with the extra money we were charging them. They even said we could pre-charge the card before the work was done. And charge extra for our time & for helping them get the other contractor or owner paid. That sent up huge red flags with me. I Said no we could pre-charge, we only charge for work when its done & customer is satisfied. And only for work that we had done. They stop corresponding then. Total scam.
