I had an identical experience to another report. I was using my computer, a pop up came up from my Windows Defender, at least, that what it appeared to me. My computer was totally locked down and I couldn't even turn it off. I called the number on the warning that my computer had been attacked on pop up. I talked to the rep for quite awhile, I was scared and concerned that this call was The Scam. However, they assured me that Microsoft provided this number (from the pop up) to multiple security companies to provide support for computer breaches and this call was directed to them, Elitex IP Security. They showed me a real time view of the current connections to other devices accessing my IP address which was 113 other devices and identified trojans, I only have about six devices on my network. I gave access to my computer with Teamviewer and they downloaded JRT junk removal tool, Certified Cisco Network Security (CCNA), Malware Terminator, a desktop reminder for a monthly checkup, a contract with security do's and don'ts and they scanned a copy of my check for 5 yrs of service and I signed a document to my bank with permission for the checking account transaction. All of the downloaded programs appear to have the proper logos. The check was made out to Nova Tech, LLC and I found a website for a company based in Denver that stated they are users of CCNA (Cisco) with the same logo and are Certified Microsoft Security Providers, however I can no longer find that website; however I can still find the website for Elitexipsecurity.com In April, I followed through with a monthly check up by calling them and having them clean up my computer, But this month their phone numbers are not working and I now have someone named "Joseph Smith" calling me from that company wanting me to use a different phone number, only that number and only asking for him, for my scheduled maintenance. Again, red flags in my gut and I am now providing as much information as I can to this and the FTC in hopes that this might help he authorities and other people.

On 2/24/2023 a notice came upon my computer that it was infected and that I should not attempt to do anything more on it or shut it down. There was a phone # to call 844-674-3699 or 888-534-6569, which I unfortunately did. They sold me a 2 year monthly tune-up and security service for $786.99. I have called them twice for monthly tune-up and once about another pop-up. Today when I called, I got a recording with an offer of $100 off something and to press 1 for more details or otherwise to hang up. When I called the second number, there was just a shrill sounding alarm. I now realize that this was a scam. The description on my bank statement was from TECHISGROUP INC XXXXXX6424 02272023-3015. I don't know if this is at all helpful.

I received an ALARM on my computer with a lady directing me to call the number on the screen. Same as with the other gentleman, they said a trojan had infected my computer, my firewall was destroyed and my network was infected 79%. They showed me a screen with a list of infections and said they could fix it for $4998.23 US. I had to mail them a cheque.

Today one of their team tried to call me thirty times as he had a question about my cheque. I had already had someone call a week earlier to say they received my cheque and it would take 7 - 10 days to clear the banks. They have given me at least 7 different phone numbers and a variety of people have called me. They offered me lifetime protection from this happening again, but they said if it did to call them right away.

I am having trouble getting a copy of what I am covered for as well as I have asked for a copy of the contract. They did not answer my email.

Computer went on the blink sirens, flashing lights, alarm etc. They called and said I needed a firewall installed which they did and charged me the $549.23 for a year of servicing and yesterday called back to tell me the company no longer existed and ScamPulse.com insisted paid monies. A one time transaction on computer to bank I typed wrong number and man Jeff Martin began yelling at me and said I owed them $4,000 and had to leave immediately and go to multiple stores Walgreens, CVS, Walmart and buy gift cards and turn them over to them to repay the money they said I owed them. I told them I would talk to my bank first and he told me I could'nt break the connection at that point I hung up and called the bank who verified the transactions had not happened. He then called me 30-40 times from different states I chose not to answer and reported to the Sheriff and am now reporting this to you, many thanks

On 3/22/2023 I got a pop-up on my computer scree that said my computer had been infected by a Trojan. It included a phone number for Microsoft Support of 888-626-1842. When I called the number I gave access to my computer to the tech at Elitex IP Security. He showed me all the viruses and errors and had me call Novatech at 321-214-6321. Novatech then removed the viruses and made changes to the computer. They had me scan my check for payment. The check was made out to Novatech for $444. They sent me 3 pages of do's and don'ts and a password and security question for when I have problems. I wasn't sure if it was a scam so I called my bank on 3/23/2023 and they put a hold on the payment. Elitex IP is supposed to contact me today between 12 and 1:00 to see how the computer is doing. They tell me I have signed up for a year of security and tech support. That was included in the $444 charge.

My 70+ mother received a pop-up message purporting to be from "Windows Security" with the 844 number listed to call them on Mar 5th, 2023. The warning was a full-screen hijack with alarm sounds. When contacted, they required account and routing information for her checking account, and remote access to her computer. Despite numerous objections that she wished to speak with me first, they took advantage of her compromised mental faculties due to side effects from her current medical treatments, and utilized social-engineering pressure to have her continue and pay them a $600 fee. We needed to freeze/close all the bank accounts and credit cards, and change all previous passwords from her Windows login and email to utility autopays. Keyloggers and other malware were installed on the computer by the scammers, with installation dated to when they had remote access, and it required a clean reinstallation of the operating system to resolve. I needed to set up several contact numbers from them as Block and Report on her mobile phone, as they attempted to C&C her phone as well with follow up text messages.

A Whois search of the domain shows that it was created on February 1st, 2023, and is registered to a generic GoDaddy customer.

The website default resolves to HTTP (port 80). No cybersecurity company would have this option.

The physical address provided is to an apartment building that is up for sale, not office space.

They spoof a 302 area code in phone communication, but are located within India. I traced their activity to the Zoho ISP.

I initially clicked on a link that uploaded a virus to my computer. The computer told me to call Microsoft to resolve the issue and gave a number. Unfortunately, I dialed the number given, not knowing that that was all part of the scam. It was not Microsoft support but Elitex IP Security support as they much later in the conversation informed me. They uploaded software on my computer. They virtually took possession of my computer in order to "fix" it. And wanted to charge me in excess of $700 to get rid of the virus. When I told them I couldn't pay that, they lowered the price to. The charge was made by Techis Group Inc. After I paid them, I felt that something was off so I didn't use the computer for anything. Not to pay bills, not to check my bank account, nothing. They then started emailing me and calling me. 20 calls in a day to find out how did I like the service I received. It was ridiculous. About 3 weeks later they called me to tell me they were going to issue a refund through the BBB, but that we had to do it on line and that I had to download a file (which by the way allowed them to have virtual access/take over my computer), and that then I had to open my bank account on my computer so that the ScamPulse.com server could make the transfer to my bank server. Sound fishy? When I told them I didn't want to -- for them just to mail my check -- they said that they couldn't do that because that was the only way to access the ScamPulse.com funds. I told them that I would just forego my refund then.
