This started 11/23, 2020. I received an email that appeared to be a customer survey from LOWES. In exchange for answering the questions you could select merchandise from a list of products. The copy stated I was responsible for shipping charges only, and told you how many of each were still available. I selected a personal headlamp and a "tactical" flash light. The shipping was about $4.95 or $5.95 for each, and I paid with a credit card. The products arrived each one separately. The packaging included no receipts, and no instructions. After figuring out how to put the batteries in the headlamp I put batteries in the flash light. Everything appeared to work and I was pleased. Now my credit card statement comes and I see two charges one from American Preparedness Com for $49.95 and one from Patriot Freedom Direct for $34.95. I never heard of these two companies and was unaware that I had done any business with them. Each listed what appeared to be a telephone number. The American Preparedness number did not answer but the Patriot Freedom number was answered. I was told that I didn't return the items within the 14 day trial period and owed the money. I protested that nothing anywhere stated it was a requirement and NO paperwork to that effect was with the items. I was told OK they would reduce the amount owed by 25%. I still objected told them I was notifying the FTC & the ScamPulse.com and he said OK, we'll take 50% off! I still protested and was told then that they would only bill me $10.00 for each item, and they would credit my credit card with the refund within 3 - 5 business days. I still protested, but decided I would take it up with my credit card company, the FTC and the BBB. An obvious scam as the provider's tactics of lowering the fees to avoid my complaining to the proper authorities demonstrates.
