We lost our well-loved Aussie a month ago, and I have been on the search for a new Australian Sheperd puppy since then. I have become 'somewhat acquainted' with breeder site layout, requirements, provisions and contracts and promises. We live in MN, so yesterday I decided to check into ND breeders...near MN. Elegant Australian Sheperd came up with pups ready to go! I found a pup that I thought would be perfect for us...until I realized this breeder was located in AZ. One thing that caught my eye about this site is that they promoted how seamless transporting puppies to another state can be today. I was INTERESTED. I inquired about MAX and transportation details. I was assured that if I put money down to "reserve" the pup, we would then proceed to transportation details. Driven by emotion, I agreed...and used Zelle to deposit $900 to [email protected]. He used 520-221-4491 to identify the account to have it deposited into. with tears, I pushed forward to secure our new puppy! And once the money was received on his end...in what turns out to be Camaron, Africa I'm now told!!! After the transition, "Gregg" became coy, redirected my questions and answered questions that I wasn't asking! Thats when it hit me...THIS wasn't RIGHT! I contacted USBank right away once I was convinced this was a scam. I was misdirected by the gals I talked to, saying USBank couldn't help me...that I needed to contact Zelle fraud. It became after business hours and so TODAY, I contacted Zelle...who redirected me back to USBank and a claim was submitted! Last night I contacted my brother who works for MN BCA...and he was in minutes able to tell me this was fraud, the place in AZ doesn't exist, the phone # was from KY, AND all of this traced to a group in Cameron, Africa who has OVER 400 ads on Google...mostly about pets! They used a similar template for each breed of dogs they were "selling"! He sent me screen shot after screen shot of foreign URL addresses (which I knew nothing about...sure getting an education!). My brother is submitting info to the FBI and to Google...hopefully to have them remove these 400 plus ads!! I was HAD. I believed the website, enjoyed the MANY extra pictures of the pup and its parents ...which included video as I requested. I was smitten...and STUPID! As soon as I realized what was happening, he became coy, redirecting and answered questions I wasn't asking...THEN a ton of red flags went up...that I was previously minimizing behind my emotion. Sure, I would LOVE to get my money back...time will tell. I woke up today and decided to push past the anger and embarrassment and to do my "responsible citizen, and consumer" reporting! the second phone # he gave me if I wanted to do apple pay to his account was 912-272-6525 which, I believe checks out as a Georgia number. i KNOW that I have evaded many scams in the past...I LET my loss and emotion cloud my judgement so I wouldn't SEE what was right in front of me. Grrrrr.
