Received a call from the Electra, Texas PD phone nr. Woman with a strong foreign accent identified herself as calling from the Electra PD and there was a warrant for my arrest. When I informed her I was at work and I would have to call her back she stated that I couldn't call at the Electra nr but would have to call (210) 888-0865 and use the warrant nr R 7426913. When I called the nr it came up as San Antonio, Texas. A man identifying himself as Steve Graham, an attorney for US Legal Support answered and claimed that he represented the company that had issued the warrant for my arrest. He proceeded to tell me it was because of non payment of my debt and that the credit bureaus had contacted them because I was over my limit of bad debt by $1,988.64. And I needed to take care of this to get the warrant pulled. At that point I informed him I worked in finance and that wasn't how this works. He became belligerent and started telling my that maybe someone had committed fraud but I was responsible and I would have to tell the judge. When I asked what judge he said the local judge and your court house. I asked him how was supposed to talk to the judge he said I would have to turn myself in to the sheriff and have to get a bail bond and then I could call them with that information or I could just take care of it now and pay the $1,988.64 and save myself going to jail. Again I told him that's not how this works he said I'll see you in court and that is when I hung up. Then I called the Electra PD myself and spoke to Cynthia who informed me there was no phone call made from their office. She did run my information and assured me that there was nothing on me. She also informed me at that time that there was a scam they had heard of like this. I told her the phone call identified as the Electra PD. She said they had to been spoofed and they hadn't been given that information before. She told me to be careful, thanked me and again confirmed that I had nothing to worry about as there were no charges filed against me. I gave him no personal information.
