I applied for a job at Vivial Media through Ziprecruiter. I got an email from what I believed to be Ziprecruiter saying that the company was interested in me for a potential interview. This was going to be my first job after college so I did not pay too close attention to the actual email address. The company was real and the name of the employee was real so I figured, the job must be legit. There were other signs but I chose to ignore them. Instead of doing a face to face interview, they just provided me with a PDF and asked me to fill out the standard interview questions. They sent me a "check" for what was supposed to be a home office set up. It turns out that check was fake but I didn't know that and it even fooled the bank tellers. After cashing the check, it appeared through my mobile banking app that the money went through. I kept emailing who I thought was Mr. Cambro for more instructions and he kept providing them. He asked me to send a money order to a certain account in order to get the stuff needed for the home office set up. I found it weird that I didn't get to choose what I wanted for my home office set up, but I figured, the worst that happens is, they get their money back and I just don't accept the position. I found out the check was a fake and that the money order came out of my personal checking account and my money instead of the check they provided.
