Educare credit card services phoned by cell phone, which is not a published number, to let me know of a interest rate reduction that I would be eligible for due to my above average status with my Visa credit card held by Chase. I stupidly agreed to listen not knowing that I was setting myself up for a scam. They told me it was an internal balance transfer @ I would be saving myself over 2,000 dollars a year in interest. They also informed me that due to the economy crash years ago most of the credit card companies were bailed out, which included mine, and therefore they would not inform me of a interest reduction option if available. This would mean, according to them, they would lose money so why tell me. They were very convincing and knew information that I thought only the credit company would know, which made it more realistic to me. When I became more resistant to giving up information they began verbal bullying. I was shaken up and somehow in all the disturbance managed, according to them to conduct a transaction. As soon as I realized I had been had, which was within 6hrs of the phone call, I notified my credit card company and bank to close the existing accounts. I then called the ScamPulse.com and Federal Trade Commision to report this issue. I have no idea how they got my number much less knew as much as they did, I still do bill paying by U.S. postal service and do no online banking or purchasing. I am still baffled and disturbed that I somehow got compromised.
