Scammer first contact was made through Facebook account as a friend request pretending to be my relatives and friends. I called the phone number my relative had given me on Facebook and said to speak to Adam Johnson. Adam pretended to have government money to boost the economic conditions of certain areas that had to be approved using your zipcode. Got on Facebook with friends and relatives....they stated it was a true grant. Did not know that their Facebook accounts had be hacked by this scammer and he was talking to me like he was them. Gave him my phone number and some other personal information to be able to get this so call grant....but not my social security number. He pretended to approve this grant and said they would send the money to me by Federal Express in cash or a check and I could give the processing fee to the Fedx agent and to tell nobody until after I received the delivery. He then asked for $450.00 processing fee. I said why do you need a processing fee. The government does not ask for any fees. They stated that this was a small fee to pay because the grant would be $60,000.00 and I had to pay the fee to get the grant. I told them I did not have that kind of money and they asked what did I have. I said $20.00 and he became upset and said he had to have no less than $150.00. I said I would contact my son...a Police officer and he can make the decision for me. They said they would put my file on hold until I can get the money. I also warned them that I was going to report them to every agency I could, if they were scammers. That was July 13 2018. Have not heard back from them...so far. I also reported it to Facebook and found out some of my friends and family accounts had been hacked. Please be alert this man had a Jamaican or African accent when I spoke to him on the phone. He said his name was Adam Johnson. I was sick and had taken some medicine when he called and was still kind of sleepy and when it appeared that my Facebook family had approved of this, I thought it was okay. They also put a lot of pressure for fast answerers from you and that lets me know that they are professional scammers. I will be more alert the next time. Please be safe and check out everyone that asks for information online or phone.
