January 30, 2019...got a pop-up message that my computer had been hacked and was locked/shut down because of a virus alert. I needed to call the phone number to have it fixed...no other option. Call was made to what appeared to be Microsoft who said they could fix for $599.00 one time fee. I hate to admit I fell for their story and agreed to the $599.00 charge. I was then transferred to another person who said they needed a special technician and would now cost a total of $999.99 - one time charge, for which I have an email verifying this. After being on the one for over a hour, I was very frustrated and confused about the whole situation; but believed their story and thought it was the only way to remedy the situation. I was told they would call me back within a hour to say it had been fixed. The call back indicated it was Microsoft. Now I find out they are a scam company and I am out $999.99. Blame it on older person and confusion...no excuse!
