My computer was hijacked. A pop up opened and said I had to call the number on the screen to remove the malware infecting my computer. The pop up looked like a Microsoft systems file so I assumed it was from my computer. I called the number and hung up when the person didn’t say they were Microsoft. They called me back two minutes later and I asked them if they were from Microsoft. They said yes. After a long talk about computer malware and virus infection they asked to remote login to my computer. I asked again if they were from Microsoft and they assured me they were. They logged on to my computer and ran a systems check showing a tiny banker virus was active. They said they could remove it for a 3 year subscribtion charge of $248.99 payable by check only. I told them I didn’t have my checking account handy. They said I could mail a check to them tomorrow 9/12/18.
