My 75 year old mother was called by a man, "Kevin Parker", from 1-800-396-5134, ext 2324, claiming to be from DWP and that her bill was past due. In order to avoid services being shut off she would have to immediately go to 7/11 and buy two MoneyPak cards, one green and one gray, in the amounts of $500 and $998.99, plus $11.98 in fees (for the cards?). Then she was to call him back and give him the numbers from the cards. Luckily, I'd taken over paying her bills the past 7 months so she called me first.
