I received an email initially saying that I signed up to become a secret shopper, and to fill out some information such as my phone number and address. Which a very long time ago I did sign up for something similar that had been verified it was real, so I had thought that this was the same thing. Then I received a text message saying that I should receive a check and the directions for the assignment. I then received the check and paper with instructions and right away I knew the whole thing was a scam. I received a check for $2,875.00 and the directions on the paper were to go to three different stores listed on the paper, and to buy 2 Apple gift cards from each store worth $400.00 and once you bought the gift cards you were supposed to scratch off the code on the back and send pictures to the email “[email protected]” In the directions it also instructed for me to keep $445.00 as my salary. I looked up if this is a known scam and surely it was.
