I replied to an add for a 1959 Cadillac Biarritz convertible listed on www.hotclassicdeals.com listed for $48,600. On 1/31/18 I received an email from a Dr Trevor T Walker/ emergency medicine specialist/ Medical corps RAMC (EMAIL [email protected]) with information and pictures of the car. He stated that the car was priced for a quick sale for a divorce settlement. The car was located in a transport company, Durnford Transport in Hayden Ohio (www.durnfordtransport.com) ready to be shipped anywhere in the USA. I agreed to purchase the car at a negotiated price of $45,600. He then informed me that he was out of the country and had contracted the transport company to be the intermediary in the transaction. They had the clear title. I was instructed to go to durnford transport website and register. Once I did that he would instruct the company to initiate the transfer. I followed the instructions. A representative of Dunsford Transport, George Riva contacted me by email and later by phone (1-888-850-1883). Mr Riva explained that he would send me a BILL OF SALE and PURCHASE CONTRACT for me to sign. Once I signed it and returned it to him he would send me wiring instructions. Once I wired the full purchase amount to Durnford Transport the money would remain in escrow and the car will be shipped. Once I received the car I had seven days to inspect the car. If I found the car was misrepresented or not to my expectations the will pick up the car at no extra charge and refund my full purchase amount. If I agreed to accept the car the money would then be transferred to the seller.

I reviewed the two documents and noticed several inconsistencies which made me suspicious. I researched the address provided and found that Durnford Transport does not exist in Hayden Idaho. The company's website was well made and stated it was >20 years in business. Also a search of dunsford transport shows that it's a British company opened in 2017. I contacted my attorney with my suspicions before signing or sending money. He performed an independent search and confirmed my suspicions. He instructed me to reply to the email requesting an independent escrow company, a copy of the registration, the divorce settlement agreement that pertains to the disposition of the vehicle. I also made them aware that I hired an independent photographer from wegolook.com to send me pictures of the car before it left the warehouse. Neither Mr Riva or Dr Walker replied to my request. The car does not exist, the place does not exist. It's a scam.
