DTE Reports & Reviews (8)

I was called by a female impersonating a DTE employee. She told me that my service was going to be disconnected due to non-payment on our account. She wanted to set up payment. She was believable in the beginning and I did give her my card number, however my card would not work on her end. She was becoming frustrated and began demanding a second form of payment. When I began questioning her she got upset and hung up on me.

I called DTE and they confirmed that I was being scammed. Also, called my bank and had my debit card turned off.

They tried to tell me that my energy would be cut off in thirty minutes for non payment. They transferred me to a fake business office. My bills are paid monthly by automatic withdrawal.

Posing as DTE, asking when we made our last payment and for how much. Was told they did not receive our payment and our electric would by shut off that same day. I asked the caller if they work for DTE and caller hung up. Caller ID came up as 'U.S. Gov't'.

I received a phone call from this number with a recalling stating "you will experience a disconnection service in 30 minutes" I immediately hung up and called the number which took me to a medical school company, when I googled it, it took me to Pima Medical.

I received an automated call from 800-477-4747 stating my DTE service will be disconnected in 30 minutes, to avoid disconnection call 800-966-6740. Spoke with a Jay Nichols at that number, he informed me I needed to come to Taylor Michigan to make a payment or got to a Walgreens, Rite Aid or CVS and purchase a pre-paid money pak card. Once I have the card I was to call Jay Nichols back at 800-966-6740 ext.304. I called DTE & checked my account online, no disconnection or past-due on my account. The representative confirmed it was a scam.

Jay Nichols called me back from 313-497-1450, I hung up on him.
