I received a phone call yesterday. The caller ID said: "DTE GAS FIELD." The phone number that popped up was DTE's number (800)477-4747. I answered and got a recording: "This is DTE Energy Collections, your services will be disconnected in 3 hours if you fail to pay the outstanding balance of $...., If you wish to speak w/a representative press #1. I pressed 1 and a guy came on the line, he knew my name and my address and asked if I was ready to pay the bill by credit card. When he realized that I knew more than he expected (a DTE retiree w/connections) the call ended. Anyone in Michigan, be sure to notify your family members, especially the seniors so they'll be aware. I can only imagine the panic a call like this would have placed on my Mom.

A man with a thick foreign accent called our business and said our power would be shut off if we did not call another number he gave and pay the overdue amount of of our DTE Energy bill over the phone. We have no amount overdue, we never have. We told him we would report it to the ScamPulse.com and police and he said to have a nice day before hanging up. The number that came through on caller ID is the number for DTE Energy, so be very careful.
