Our office is the primary care provider for the person targeted. We received phone call from a patient inquiring why we called her and requested updated payment and insurance information when she just filled out that information at her last visit a month ago. She also stated the caller told her she had a balance and would be dropped as a patient if she did not pay it. Our office has made no such calls to her. The correspondence she received was fraudulent.

The scammer called my 89-year-old mother claiming to be with her primary care physician’s office and he wanted her to give him all of her Medicare and bank account numbers. He claimed she had a past due balance and told her if she did not pay immediately, she would be dropped as a patient. He apparently was pretty aggressive, demanding and believable. Fortunately, I handle things for her and she called me and told me. I contacted her Doctors office and they told me it was not legitimate, she had no balance, and that they did not call her.

I have received 2 phone calls from a scammer claiming to be with my doctors office. The scammer knew that I was a patient and had the name of my doctor. .They claimed the Dr. had ordered me knee braces and other treatments and wanted me to pay for it and to confirm personal information. He had a thick foreign accent and something seemed off so i called DR immediately and confirmed it was a scam. When the scammer called back i confronted him and he hung up. This one particularly concerning because they actually claimed to be with my Dr's office.
