I was waved down on the 101 fwy in Peoria AZ October 25 at 2pm at the Peoria Exit by a young man driving a Black Cadillac Escalade claiming to have been robbed and had no money to continue unless someone helps him get to California. His Father told him to make a flight to go home back to Dubai from Sacramento CA by any means necessary after he told his dad he’d had been robbed of his wallet. He was to sell what he had on him to get him back home safe. He acted scared and was pleading with me to have mercy on him. Then he took the ring off his fingered and put it in my hand and said this a 5000 dollar ring just give him 400 dollars for gas and hotel to California. I asked if his car was broke down and he said just low on fuel. We exchanged phone numbers and I called the number and his phone rang in his hand. I thought ok this kid is in trouble with family, I’ve been there I should help. I told him I would be in touch when he reached Sacramento to return his things and he could just repay me the money later. He kept saying “your a good person God will bless you for this” THERE ARE NO FRONT PLATES IN Arizona so I could not get his plate as I pulled over in front of him. Then more young people got out of the car praising me and asking for more money. I was tired and confused after a long day at work. I just wanted out of there at this point. I said good buy to the young man about 16 or 17 maybe 19. As I drove off I realized it was a scam but had some place to be soon. Being in a hurry, I had not eaten yet that day and wanting to help someone put me in a confusing state of mind and I was taken advantage of. It’s hard to let go of this anger. The police of Peoria ran the phone number for my wife and me and said it was affiliated with a number out of Seattle where this scam has been done several times. The ring was gold and had a Rolex symbol on top and 18K on the underside of the ring. It was heavy adding to the authenticity of the story. I gave back a neckless very heavy saying it isn’t necessary earlier when the encounter first started. Catch these people praying on nice people.
