I got an email from a Thomas Lee (probably fake name) who claimed to be a representative of Dreamscape Immersive, A large company that provides VR experiences. I should say before i continue that Dreamscape Immersive is a real company, but scammers were using the company's notoriety to scam people. Thomas wanted me to interview through an app called Wire with a Holly Carter (probably another fake name and same person). The app was just text messages asking about what my expectations are and that i will be on-boarding by purchasing equipment that I will be reimbursed for. I really think i skipped that part of the conversation because if i saw that I would have realized immediately that i was being scammed. Either way, I continued with the interview and a day later they told me i passed and would need to send in documents, I signed a background check authorization form, sent them a copy of my driver's license, and some billing history to verify where i live. What irks me the most is that I asked them if i should put in my 2 weeks notice for my current employer and they said yes.
