A person with an accent of Indian descent called my elderly mother in law posing as Dr Durinka saying he was asked by her orthopedic physician to send her a hip brace. He asked for her Medicare number, she didn’t know it, he said “I am not suppose to do this but I will send it to you anyway”. Then he called back the next day asking for her Medicare number verification. She verified. We then called her orthopedic doctor to verify he ordered the brace and he denied ordering anyone to order the brace or asking someone else to help her order the brace. The brace was sent from Flatland Medical Supplies. We called and they explained Dr. J Durinka had ordered the brace via a telemedicine call. My elderly mother does not know Dr. Durinka and she has not requested his services nor did her physician. This is clearly a scam geared towards the elderly and Medicare. “Dr Durinka” has called my mother in law 2 more times since for a total of 4 phone calls.
