They call themselves "Doggie Protective Services" and claim to be a non-profit agency that helps find homes for animals. They do everything to establish that they're based in Palo Alto, but they have no office of any sort. They also don't have a board. Their address is a PO BOX in Romoland, CA, which is a patch of unincorporated desert in Southern California. I contacted them about a dog I was interested in adopting. They sent me an email asking for a $50 non-refundable deposit just to be able to see the dog. How is this non-profit? There is nobody at the wheel here. Who runs this organization? Not a clue. They don't even have a phone numbers. It's a scam. They do offer dogs and cats for adoption, but it's a for-profit endeavor. There are many complaints on yelp from people that got dogs from them that had undisclosed health issues.
