I was called at my place of employment from a gentleman stating he was Sgt James Powell with the Douglas County Police Department on January 14, 2022. He knew my name. He told me he needed to keep me on the phone so that his deputy could arrest me for a bench warrant I had for missing jury duty, this was determined afterwards to be a lie. He said I had two options at that point, I could wait for the deputy or pay my bond through Venmo. He sent a request from Jacob Blackmon who he stated worked for the bond agency. After making the payment of $625.99 he hung up. However, I called the Douglas County Police Department to confirm payment and was informed that they do NOT have a Sgt James Powell working for them. It was determined that Jacob Blackmon scammed me out of $625.99.
