Received phone call with statement that my power would be cut off in 30 minutes due to a delinquent bill. Caller gave phone number shown above. I was suspicious immediately because: 1. The phone call was placed to my cell/mobile phone which is NOT registered with Dominion Energy. 2. As we had recently paid our bill. 3. Checked my bank account online and saw that the payment had cleared. 4. Went online to the Dominion Energy website. Confirmed payment processed and our balance of $0.00. 5. Called the service number from the website. Greeting message included declaration that Dominion Energy has suspended all service cancellations/cut-offs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 6. Also, there is a scam warning posted on the Dominion Energy website. - Did not return call.

The following message was left:

"Good day, welcome to Dominion Energy. This is an automated call to inform you that your account reflects a disconnection order taking place today due to nonpayment history. Press 2to be transferred to our billing department. Please contact us at 757-568-5445 to avoid disconnection. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for choosing Dominion Energy.

I spoke with a general manager Joshua Ramirez and verified my home address. He stated that my account was past due and ready for disconnect in 30 minutes. He wanted me to go to 7-11 to pay in cash with a "bill payer solution" such as "Go Bank Checking Account" card or Money Packet. I asked why the account couldn't be credited over the phone and he said the systems would take too long to prevent the cut off. He seemed to be reading from a script. After checking my account online, I confirmed my account not only was in good standing but had a credit balance. I let him know that my account is not ready for disconnect and that I know he was trying to scam me. He replied "Yes I am. You can't knock a brother for trying. You sound so sweet though." and hung up.

I received a call from Dominion Virginia Power 866.366.4357. The gentleman said that our account was overdue and that service Interruption was scheduled for one hour from then. He said they had sent a letter in the mail in a red envelope about 3 days ago. In the letter he said that there was a notification of our account being past due. I asked if he could tell me what our account number was and he didn't have that information. I asked what information he did have and he quoted to me our business phone number. He then said I could call another phone number 855.256.8437 for more information. After calling this other phone number a lady came on the phone and said she was with Dominion Power Service Interruption Department. She asked for my account number and I said I didn't have one. Then she asked for my phone number and I gave her my business phone number. She quoted back to me the name of my business. I explained to her that we had no account with Dominion Virginia Power and then she hung up. I called back and she answered again and I asked how much I owed and she hung up again. I called a total of 5 more times and each time the representative would find out what company I was calling from and then hang up. I called from different phone numbers several times and once they found out what company I was calling from they would hang up. The last time I called I pretended to be from a different company and they asked for my phone number. I gave them a fake phone number and said they didn't have that on their list. That's when I told them that my phone number was 9-1-1 and that I had reported them to the authorities for being a scam. Then they hung up. In total I spoke to four different individuals.

Someone called my office claiming to be a service technician for Dominion Virginia Power. He gave me his full name, and told me he was on his way to disconnect our meter because our last payment didn't go through. I called the number he gave me and it seemed legit, had a Dominion recording, etc. The person said they would run an investigation about why my payments weren't allocated to the correct account, but in order to avoid disconnection I needed to pay cash for a MoneyPak card, and then call back with the MoneyPak card numbers. They gave me the amount that was required and knew all of my account information.

Caller, name Curtis, said electrical power would be turned off in 45 minutes unless payment made. He did not specify an amount. Person answering call did not know situation and told caller she would have to check with her boss. Caller provided phone number and his name. She did not return the call. No further contact today.

Caller stated that my electricity was going to be disconnected in 30-45 minutes. I asked for a managers phone number and the wo order and I was given 800-935-6011. W/o 01-3259

After I called that number and got a recording with options, I decided to call a Dominion directly and heard about the possibility of scams of this nature.

A technician from Dominion Virginia Power calls saying he has a work order to cut off power in an hour for lack of payment. He provides a customer service number and claim number and says to call right away.

Calling the number, it sounds like Dominion Virginia. The customer service rep says we owe almost $1,000 and have to pay now to avoid power being shut off. But the building we work in has a power bill paid by a commercial realty management company, so the account isn't in our name and it doesn't make sense for them to call us.

On 7/19/2016 I received a call at my business claiming to be dominion Virginia power stating my electric will be shut off in 30 minutes if payment is not received. After arguing with them and telling them off they hung up. They did ask for dominion account numbers and check numbers however I did not give them any bank account info.
