Robo-caller said my "account reflects a disconnection order" due to "non-payment history"

They wanted me to call 8664660950 to pay my overdue bill.

Answered call and it was an automated message that my Dominion power service would be cut off in 30 mins due to non-payment. Chose option 2 to speak to someone, they answered "Dominion Energy" I said who is this, they replied "Dominion Energy. I said no it's not, this is a scam call. They promptly hung up on me.

I was left a voicemail saying that my power would be disconnected that day due to unpaid bills. I called dominon’s number on my bill to confirm that my account balance should be zero because I am enrolled in automatic payments. My balance was in fact zero, however, still paranoid and wanting to ensure that I was not at risk for disconnection I called the number left on the voicemail. The rep I spoke with explained that the company had mailed two letters over the course of several weeks that all customer’s power meters would be upgraded (later that evening well after the call I went to my mailbox and confirmed that I never received any correspondence). This upgrade was mandatory and required a $300 deposit which would be refunded within 15-30 days. He stated technicians were in route to cut off my power. Unknowing this was a scam, I provided my card information to pay the deposit in order to avoid service disconnection. He claimed the card did not go through because I was flagged in the system as service disconnection. The only way to pay the deposit and stop the disconnection order was to purchase a MoneyPak card as dominion has an affiliation with this pre-paid card company. He also informed me that in order to purchase a MoneyPak card I had to use cash. I quickly got dressed, went to my bank’s ATM, then to RiteAid and purchased the card. Meanwhile, the rep “Michael Holmes” was extremely friendly and waited on the phone the entire time I went through this process. I provided the card number to him and he claimed that I only had one hour to use that form of payment and we had been on the phone for 1 hour 7 min so that card did not take. He instructed that I go back and purchase a second MoneyPak card for another $300 which I did as he reassured me I would be reimbursed within two days. He appeared so apologetic about the situation and stated that he spoke with his manager and could offer two free months of service because of the inconvenience. The second card took and I soon received a confirmation text that stated exactly what he said over the phone. I was promised that I would receive a check in the mail for the initial $300 deposit within two days and the second deposit within about two weeks. It was not until I checked my mailbox two days later to find no check that I began to piece together the events...I attempted to call the numbers I had received the voicemail from and spoken with Michael from, both were disconnected and that is when realized I had been scammed. I have locked and requested a new card with my bank. As I write this and reflect on this day I hate I was so naive however these people/this person preys on your panic, please do not make the same mistake I did.

Received an automated voicemail message saying that it was Dominion Energy calling that my electricity would be disconnected today for non payment history and to call back to 866-466-0950 to pay balance due. As I am aware that VA SCC halted all disconnections because of COVID, and that I had just received a bill from Dominion showing no overdue balance, I knew this was a scam and did not respond.
